Connect Vultr Account
Vultr connects via API key. One key gives you access to compute, storage, and DNS.
Get Your API Key
- Log in to my.vultr.com (opens in a new tab) > Account > API
- Enable API if it isn't already
- Copy your API key
Under Access Control, you can restrict API access to specific IPs (more secure) or allow all IPs (easier to set up).
The Vultr API key has full account access. Keep it secure.
Add to OEC.sh
Go to Settings > Cloud Accounts > Add Account > Vultr.
Paste your API key and click Add Account. The account shows Active with Compute, Storage, and DNS badges.
Using Your Vultr Account
Servers -- Go to Servers > Add Server > Provision from Cloud. Pick region and plan.
Backups -- Go to Settings > Storage > Quick Setup. Vultr Object Storage is S3-compatible but only available in select regions (see below).
DNS -- Go to Settings > DNS Providers > Quick Setup. Select a domain from Vultr DNS.

You can use storage from any server location though.
Troubleshooting
"Invalid API Key" -- Key is wrong or API is disabled. Check in Vultr Account > API.
"Forbidden" / 403 -- Your IP isn't in the API allowlist. Go to Vultr Account > API > Access Control and add your IP, or set to "Allow All IPv4".
Instance creation fails -- Try a different region. New accounts have limits -- contact Vultr support. Some plans aren't available in all regions.
Object Storage not available -- It's only in 4 regions (listed above). Create storage in one of those regions.
DNS zone not found -- Add your domain to Vultr DNS first (Dashboard > DNS), then update nameservers at your registrar.
